Field Best Presentation Awards (U36)
The Organizing Committee of WTC IV has planned "Field Best Presentation Awards (U36)." The details of this award are as follows:
1. Objective
Field Best Presentation Awards (U36), supported by the Organizing Committee of WTC IV, is intended to recognize young tribologists' great contributions to the field of Tribology, and to promote their research.
2. Conditions and eligibility
This Award is made for both oral and poster presentations in technical sessions.
Eligible presentations must be carried out by the candidate author.
In the case of a paper with multiple authorship, an author who is a candidate for the Award must be the author named in the programme as the presenter (but who need not necessarily be the first-named author of the paper) who also satisfies the age criterion.
'Young' or 'younger' should be understood to mean an author under the age of 36 as of September 6th 2009.
3. Selection of winners
The Award is judged on the basis of both the extended abstract and the presentation at the conference.
The criteria for judging and assessing are:
Originality
Innovativeness
Usefulness
Completeness
Presentation
4. Prizes for the winners
The winners will be awarded the following;
* Certificate
* Memento
The prizes will be mailed to the recipients after the congress.

Taiho Encouraging Award for Young Tribologists
The Organizing Committee of WTC IV would like to support young tribologists and encourage their participation in the Congress. The committee has therefore planned "Taiho Encouraging Award for Young Tribologists" based on the "TTRF (Taiho Kogyo Tribology Research Foundation) Support for Young Tribologists." The details of this award are as follows:
1. Outline
"Young Tribologists" would be defined as 36 years old or younger at the time of the World Tribology Congress IV, but excluding young tribologists from industry or other for-profit organizations.
The grants would be $500 per awardee.
The number of awardees is 10. The number of awardees from any one country would be limited to not more than three.
This award will be presented at Banquet to be held on Wednesday, 9th September.
2. Selection of Awardees
Committee of commendation will select the awardees by reviewing the contents of extended abstracts.
3. Announcement of Awardees
The WTC IV Organizing Committee would be pleased to announce that "Taiho Encouraging Award for Young Tribologists" should be given to the awardees in the list below.
